Early Years Teaching School

Maintained nursery schools are local authority schools. They have always been amongst the leaders in the early years sector, ever since they were first created a century ago. Many are now National Teaching Schools, designated by the Department for Education. Their role is to work with others through a Teaching School Alliance. These Alliances provide high-quality training and support for school improvement and for the wider early years system in their local area.

This website section has been developed to share their work more widely. You can find out more about how each of the Teaching Schools Alliances led by a Maintained Nursery School provides innovation and support through Initial Teacher Training (ITT), School to School Support, Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and Research and Development within the Early Years (Foundation Stage) and Primary phase of education (KS1 and KS2), Click on the relevant tab images above to be taken to the relevant page link information.
