Modern Foreign Languages

The funding subsidised a cross-phase working party, which looked at: the requirements of the new curriculum and the thoughts of Ofsted on primary languages; common features and differences in the teaching of languages at KS2 and KS3; methodology; the issues for transition from primary to high school;  resources commercially available; different models of delivery within primary schools; and the issues and constraints in implementation of language teaching in KS2 and how an MFL co-ordinator might manage these.  The findings were disseminated to attendees at a conference held in the summer term, which was attended by over 20 schools, some from as far away as London (and which accounted for a large proportion of the funding).
