Breakdown of Resources by Subject Area

Funding was used in order to develop the best methods from Geoff Petty’s work. Teachers worked in teams to experiment with techniques in order to discover their effect rates. These working teams also created rationales in order give clear focus for writing.

Maths

Our approach to the teaching of Mathematics builds upon pupils acquiring basic skills they need to solve real life problems. A range of innovative resources have been created to support the teaching of numeracy.

Reading – Our aim is to embed a life long love of reading which includes six strategies to ensure all children can read, and choose to read.Examples of comprehension planning for Year 6 and some supporting activities are available using high impact teaching strategies.

Writing – Rationales are created in order to focus on the purpose of writing genres which can instil a desire for improvement when a given audience is made clear. Examples of rationales for a select range of genres and age groups

The development of Thurrock Primary Assessment Tool is in its final stages of development which will ensure that the assessment of children against age related expectations in the new curriculum is consistent and simplified by providing easily accessible resources and exemplification materials.
