Summary of Funded Support

The school received the following support:

  • Middle Leadership Development sessions
  • Subject Leader – 3 day support
  • Critical friendship/consultancy sessions (small group sessions with other TSA member schools)
  • Training on new curriculum
  • Assessment without levels
  • Mastery in mathematics
  • Specific strands in English
  • Critical friendship / consultancy sessions (one-to-one surgeries/school visits/email and telephone support)
  • Development of assessment materials for reading and writing for KS1 and KS2.
  • Monitoring implementation of change and staff cpd

The funding was used in two ways:

Firstly, to offer middle leadership support to develop the necessary leadership competencies to competently lead, manage and affect change within their area/s of curriculum responsibility.

And Secondly, to support dedicated time allowed colleagues to meet and access subject specific support, advice and guidance from an external subject expert. The sessions were designed so that participants were supported to consider their own plans for the implementation of the new PC in English and Mathematics.

Breakdown of Resources by Subject Area

As a result of the support, the subject leader created a new maths assessment document that it used across the school. This is based on the new curriculum and looks at age related expectations across each year group. The use of the NCETM website has also been explored and rolled out to colleagues , particularly how the resource works as a planning tool. This is now a central
website for all teachers to plan and assess from. From this the school have developed a vocabulary booklet to ensure that, across the whole school, a consistent and accurate approach in the vocabulary all staff are using when talking about maths, is applied.

The funded support enables the school to focus on developing a new English assessment document that has been implemented in school this academic year. This is similar to the maths document as it is also based on the new curriculum and identifies age related expectations across each year group.
