Breakdown of Resources by Subject Area

Funding was used to release teachers to work collaboratively together across a number of Alliance schools.
Most of the hubs had a main focus on pedagogy and how children learn best.
They are still on going and developing further e.g. the Maths Hub wishes to create a Mastery Approach in all Alliance schools and have used Subject Knowledge Enhancement as a first step.
There has been further development in creating a Science Hub using the coastal development to accredit a Sea School at one of the schools.
The North Devon Teaching School Alliance Maths Hub
Worked together to create resources which would be of value to the child in their progress and assessment of Number. Their focus is about the children understanding next steps and being independent in their learning.
The Lead has linked closely with the National Maths Hub in Cornwall in order to provide more opportunities for schools that face rural isolation and coastal factors.
The main focus was to Create a series of bookmarks which children can use to support their progress in Number. They can be linked to assessment.
The North Devon Teaching School Alliance English Hub
Similarly to above, the Hub created a series of bookmarks that would assist children’s learning within writing.
The North Devon Teaching School Alliance IT Hub
The main focus of this Hub was to ensure a Network of expertise that could be called upon to support schools in the delivery of computing and to overcome the barriers of hardware and other issues. The IT Hub – looked at software and Apps to teach coding and IT skills and working with the leadership of schools.
The North Devon Teaching School Alliance Language Hub
This Hub was cross-phase, linking with a Secondary SLE. They looked at a variety of published schemes and worked collaboratively on planning and teaching. Their main focus was for teachers to demonstrate pedagogical approaches to enthuse and teach Languages.
- They produced simple labels for use across a school and evaluated published schemes
- Trial recording an audio file of the children involved in a dialogue/role play situation as appropriate as a form of summative assessment.
- A clear difference in Y7 in the speed of language development between children who have received consistent languages teaching at KS2 and those who have not
