National Coaching Pledge
Women Leading in Education (WLE) is aimed at supporting women into leadership roles, through development opportunities, sharing of good practice and access to a range of helpful resources.
Recent available data (2017) shows that although 85% of all primary teachers were female, just 73% of primary headteachers were women. Additionally 63% of all secondary teachers were female whilst just 38% of secondary headteachers were women. This data demonstrates that women are under-represented in leadership positions, especially at secondary level. The DfE’s National Coaching Pledge invites all leaders to make a voluntary pledge to coach aspiring female leaders.
